“Which AI should my business use?” is an increasingly common question, and the honest answer is: it depends on the task. Today’s best-known models — from OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini) — aren’t 100% interchangeable. Each family has different strengths.
GPT (OpenAI)
It’s probably the best-known model outside the tech sector, with broad integration into third-party tools (from Microsoft Office to thousands of desktop and mobile apps).
Where it tends to excel:
- General content generation: marketing copy, customer service replies, draft communications.
- A very broad ecosystem of ready-made integrations, useful if you don’t want custom development.
- Multimodal models able to work natively with images and voice.
Claude (Anthropic)
It has earned a strong reputation for tasks that require reliably following complex instructions and working with long documents.
Where it tends to excel:
- Analysing and summarising long documents (contracts, reports, large volumes of text).
- Programming and code refactoring tasks, where precision in following instructions matters a lot.
- Writing with a more careful, less generic tone when given detailed instructions.
Gemini (Google)
Natively integrated into the Google ecosystem (Workspace, Android, Search), it has a clear advantage in settings where you already work with Google tools.
Where it tends to excel:
- Direct integration with Gmail, Docs, Sheets and the rest of Workspace.
- Access to more recent information thanks to its connection with Google Search.
- Processing very long contexts (long documents, multiple files at once).
How to choose in practice (without overcomplicating it)
Instead of looking for “the best model” in the abstract, ask yourself:
- What tools does your team already use? If you live in Google Workspace, Gemini reduces friction. If you use Microsoft 365, GPT is more integrated.
- Is the task creative, analytical or technical? For programming and analysing long documents, Claude usually performs very well. For general-purpose content at high volume, GPT is a solid and widely used option.
- Do you need the most up-to-date information possible? Gemini has an edge thanks to its direct connection with Google Search.
The mistake to avoid: choosing by trend, not by use case
Many small businesses adopt an AI tool because “it’s the one everyone’s talking about on LinkedIn”, without assessing whether it actually solves their problem. The right question isn’t which model is best in general, but which model best solves your specific task, at what cost and with what level of integration into the tools you already use.
In projects where we help integrate AI into business processes, we always start with the problem to solve — customer service, content generation, data analysis — and then evaluate which model fits best, rather than starting from the technology.
